Support for Survival

We are truly fortunate that Australia stands at the forefront of global achievements in Intensive Care. This isn’t an exaggeration but testament to our leadership in standards, research and survival rate. At the Intensive Care Foundation, our focus is research to enable the highest standards of ICU care across the country.

As a result of this, and the contributions of the Intensive Care Foundation, we have survival rates from intensive care, better than any other country worldwide. Our current death rate of only 8% outperforms the predicted world standard of 13% by more than one third.

During the pandemic Australia was the world leader in survival rates for patients requiring intensive care. While the world average survival rate from intensive care stood at 65%, our nation surpassed expectations with a 90% Covid-19 survival rate.

Australians have a 1 in 2 chance of requiring intensive care at some time during their life, a reality that touches the lives of every Australian family, often more than once.

The Intensive Care Foundation plays a critical role in supporting intensive care practice by funding projects and research that are directed towards constantly improving survival rates and maintaining our position as the global benchmark.

Our work is ongoing, and we continue to rely on the support of individuals and organisations to further advance our efforts.

As we celebrate the holiday season, we encourage you to make a difference in the lives of those who may require intensive care in the future. Your continued support is not only a gift to our Foundation but also a testament to the spirit of the community that defines us. Please consider making a donation via the QR code below, and together, let’s continue our journey of Support for Survival. Thank you, and may your festive season be filled with love, peace, and joy.
